...but i purchased something today that made me very happy.
i've been looking for an old console stereo (that i actually like) for a LONG time and i got this one half price at a great estate sale! it sounds great and works great other than the fact that the turntable isn't spinning (but it will get fixed...oh yes). not a bad addition to my living room for $75!!

those of you who have been in my lovely rental abode know that it leaves much much much to be desired. i am slowly doing what i can to make the joint more liveable and a bit more me.
i finished another painting last night and put it in the kitchen...a room i am doing my best to makeover in a cheery sort of way. i wish i had some dreadful "before" pictures for you. still a ways to go...but it's better than it was. we painted the table and chairs. if only we could paint the walls. well, actually, if only we could gut the house and start from scratch. :)
here are a couple pictures just for kicks (and because i'm procrastinating heavily).
of course the colors in the painting don't show up very accurately, but you get the idear.
i have also been on the hunt for a mid-century stereo console. that has proved a bit more difficult than originally thought. i am now an official craigslist furniture stalker.

this here is what i call...
"tara's first actual canvas painting"
i've always loved art, but i never make time for it. so, i'm going to start painting...mostly inspired by the need to redecorate this house.
my friends asked "what does it mean?" the answer: "nothing...it's just supposed to look nice on the wall." time will tell if i achieved that goal or not. also, there was definitely more meaning in the process than in the final product. God was in the process. interesting.
we'll see what comes next in the "series." (term used very loosely.)
(disclaimer: colors more intense and evident in real life.)
